Check Out the Food Center Featured in Crazy Rich Asians
It was the perfect backdrop for Rachel Chu's first meal in Singapore!
In the blockbuster film Crazy Rich Asians, Rachel Chu and Nick Young are welcomed to Singapore by the soon-to-be-wed couple, Araminta Lee and Colin Khoo. They all go out on a food trip at Singapore's Newton Food Centre, dubbed as "a place where you can sample all the best local eats." With close to 100 stalls, it's no wonder it was chosen as one of the film's shoot locations. A mouthwatering montage of the food market's different offerings like the curry laksa, chili crabs, ice kachang (Singapore's version of halo-halo) and sticks of satay, or skewered turmeric-marinated meat, was just one of the many food moments to watch for in the film.
These are all delicious staples in every foodie's Singapore itinerary, but there’s so much more to discover at the Newton Food Centre. To get your food itinerary started, we round up some food finds at this hawker center:
How to get there: Located at Newton, Singapore, Newton Food Centre can be accessed through the North-South MRT Line. Alight at Newton station and follow the signs leading to the food center.
