You Only Have a Few Months Left to Visit Z Compound

( Once upon a time, it seemed like the Metro would never run out of food parks, with the establishments popping up everywhere like mushrooms. Ahead of the pack was Z Compound, which opened a food court with 11 different food stalls on Malingap Street in November 2013. But now their five-year run is about to come to an end: Owner Eric Cadavillo confirmed via text message to that Z Compound will be closing its doors when their lease ends on December 31.

Cadavillo admits that he thinks the food-park trend is waning: "Although we still get our share of customers, the food-park concept has worn off." Still, it was a good run for Z Compound: Some of the stalls that started in the food park, like Lebanese concept Meshwe and Thai stall Me Love You Long Time, have gone on to open branches outside of Z.

Meshwe is one of the food stalls that has since branched out of Z Compound.Z Compound Facebook page

Also popular at Z Compound is Bagneto, with their porky rice meals like sisig and bagnet

Cadavillo shares that he does plan on reopening Z Compound inside Teachers Village, but with a different concept: "We'll probably host other things, not just food," he says. Still, nothing can exactly replicate the effortlessly cool vibe of Z, so better hurry, get your shawarma and bagnetand catch one last gig before they close.

Z Compound is at 33A Malingap Street, Teachers Village, Quezon City.
