Now's Your Chance to Have Kimchi With Your Xiao Long Bao
Unless uni is more your style.
(SPOT.ph) Din Tai Fung isn't shy about experimentation. They've thrown things like truffle into their xiao long bao before—so it's no surprise they're ready to push the envelope further. If you're a fan of uni or kimchi, you're in luck: You can now get Uni and Pork Xialongbao (P345/five pieces, P685/10 pieces) and Pork and Kimchi Xiaolongbao (P185/five pieces, P355/10 pieces) at all the Metro Manila branches of Din Tai Fung.
The uni, or sea urchin, brings the already smooth and savory dumpling to another level, making it almost buttery; if you're more into tang and heat, then the kimchi variant is for you.
Perhaps the cutest thing about xiao long bao is the name—it means "small basket bun." And while it's a treat in and of itself, there's a theatric quality to your dining experience when you order these things: after what feels like forever, the server finally comes back with those telltale baskets, sets them down, lifts the lids—the steam doesn't hurt drama of it, either—and it's dinner time. (And now it's even more exciting with the new flavors!)
Din Tai Fung has branches at Level R1 Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, Makati City and G/F Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. See a list of Din Tai Fung branches.
