This Initiative Lets You Buy Veggie Baskets for Jeepney Drivers
You can help jeepney drivers and local farmers in one go!
(SPOT.ph) The pandemic has made things difficult for all of us, but it has especially affected jeepney drivers, who could not ply the roads during the quarantine. While they may soon be allowed to operate, most jeepney drivers have had no other means of making a living in the meantime, with some resorting to begging on the streets just to survive. Enter Bayanihan - Veggie Baskets for Jeepney Drivers, an initiative that lets you sponsor baskets of vegetables for jeepney drivers in Rosario, Cubao.
Bayanihan caters to 57 families, and for now, they hope to raise enough funds to provide one basket per family (that's a total of 57 baskets) before July 11. Each basket costs P450 and contains five kilos of vegetables—including cabbage, potatoes, carrots, sayote, beans—plus two kilos of rice, enough to feed a family for a week or more.
Any excess in donations will be given to the drivers in the form of cash. The vegetables are sourced from Hi-Land Benguet farmers, so you'll also be helping them too in the process.
To donate, simply send a message to Bayanihan - Veggie Baskets for Jeepney Drivers on Facebook indicating how many veggie baskets you can sponsor, then send your payment via BPI or BDO bank deposit, GCash, or Paypal.
