(SPOT.ph) Trends come and go, but some desserts maintain an eternal sort of appeal—like a classic chocolate cake. There are a couple that we love in the Metro, and here’s a new contender that’s absolutely worth trying: local purveyor Bites by Crumble’s Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake (P400/regular, P170/mini).

Bites by Crumble delivers every Wednesday and Sunday. For orders, check out this online form; note that there’s a cut-off of Tuesdays, 3 p.m. for Wednesday deliveries, and Saturdays, 3 p.m. for Sunday deliveries. They accept payments made via GCash, or BDO or BPI bank deposit.

The Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake comes in a tin can which, when opened, immediately greets you with its glistening chocolate frosting and dusting of cocoa powder. What it lacks in bells and whistles, it makes up for in utter quality—the cake is as moist as they come, with a fluffy open crumb that offers just enough of a bite. The frosting matches the cake’s fudginess, with a silky-smooth consistency and robust chocolate flavor. Amazingly, the cake isn’t too sweet—making it that much easier to polish off a can by yourself.

Aside from their killer chocolate cake, Bites by Crumble also make S’Mores Cookies (P360/box of 12, P400/box of 16) that are part-chewy, part-crispy, and all parts sweet and luscious.
