This Chicken Sandwich Is Here to Make All Your Sweet-Spicy Dreams Come True
(SPOT.ph) Sure, plain fried chicken is always a treat, but it becomes a whole different beast when served in between buns—as in a good ol' fried chicken sandwich. There's something about sinking your teeth into a pillowy bun and getting to the crisp, juicy chicken fillet that gets us drooling—plus, it's a great base for other flavors. One Cebu-based online seller in particular takes the dish in a spicy-sweet direction; say hello to Benjie's and their Spicy Honey Butter fried chicken sandwich!
Spicy Honey Butter Fried Chicken Sandwich
The Spicy Honey Butter fried chicken sandwich has a glazed buttermilk fried-chicken fillet that Benjie's layers with a whipped spicy honey butter sauce, melted cheese, pickles, and a toasted brioche bun. Think Southern-style fried chicken served with honey, but this time, with a touch of heat! A sandwich goes for P199.
Benjie's has other fried chicken sandwich flavors on their lineup, too—all of which have their buttermilk fried chicken and a toasted brioche bun. A simpler (but not boring) option is The Classic (P160), which has plus Benjies' "secret sauce"; there's also the more amped-up Benjie's Original (P180) with the said secret sauce, hot sauce, coleslaw, and pickles.
Love the spicy, buttery profile of buffalo chicken wings? Don't miss Benjies' Buffalo Ranch (P190) fried chicken sandwich, where the fried-chicken fillet is coated in buffalo sauce and served with homemade ranch, coleslaw, and pickles. Occasionally, they also sell limited-edition flavors in what they call their "sandwich of the week"—some that they've created in the past are the Crispy Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Parm.
If you prefer a more straightforward chicken fix, you'll be happy to know that you can also get Chicken Tenders at Benjie's (P190/three-piece combo, P280/six-piece combo), available in Original, Buffalo, and Garlic Parmesan flavors and served with the Benjie's, Ranch, or Garlic Aioli dips. You can get both a sandwich and tenders (plus potato wedges!) in what they call the Birdbox (P320).
