(SPOT.ph) Mochi (a.k.a. glutinous rice cake) is a traditional Japanese treat that's got its fair share of fans locally—we do, after all, love our rice. There are a couple of different varieties of mochi; in particular, daifuku (bean paste-stuffed round mochi) is easy to like for how it brings together chewy mochi exterior with a sweet and moist interior. Beyond the traditional and common version that's filled with anko (red bean), it's also a great base for other flavor profiles—heck, one online seller in Cebu even gives it a Filipino twist. Say hello to Liloan-based Mochinoy, which makes daifuku-style mochi but with distinctly Pinoy flavors—including yema!

Dubbed the Yemachi (P39), this special mochi has a sweet and rich yema filling that goes beautifully with the chewy mochi layer on the outside. No wonder it's their bestseller! Other flavors on their lineup are the Ubechi (P39) or ubeMangachi (P39) or mango, Mochioat (P43) or mango float, and Leche de Mochi (P43) or leche flan. The mochi are priced individually, but Mochinoy sells them in boxes of six—and we're pretty sure a box won't be enough.
