SPOTTED: Sukiya Is Opening Their First Philippine Branch
The Japanese chain is known for their gyudon!

(SPOT.ph) When you're looking for a warm and hearty bowl that delivers full-on umami sans frills or fuss, the Japanese rice bowl known as gyudon totally fits the bill. This dish hits the spot every time, thanks to its tandem of beef simmered with onions in a savory-sweet sauce, served over rice that absorbs the remaining liquid. Over in Japan, you can get your fix from Sukiya—a popular gyudon restaurant chain known for their knockout version of the beef dish. ICYDK, they're said to be opening in our shores—and true enough, we spotted a boardup of their upcoming branch in Glorietta 2, Makati!

Sukiya is opening their first Philippine outlet in Makati
Sukiya Philippines' boardup can be found on the second floor, next to Miniso in front of S&R New York Style Pizza in Glorietta 2. Needless to say, we're totally excited!

Over in Japan, Sukiya is known for their Gyudon with beef that's tender as can be—not to mention quite affordable as it starts at just 290 JPY (roughly P128.85) for a small bowl. The gyudon can be had plain or with toppings that include kimchi, cheese, grated radish, and more, introducing contrasting tastes and textures to the mix.

Their Japanese branches also make the Pork Rice Bowl that's got a similar umami profile to the beef version, but slightly-different meaty bite; and the Yokohama Curry Rice which pairs rice and a deeply savory curry sauce with accompaniments like meats, veggies, and more. Fingers crossed that these make it to the Philippine menu as well!

Sukiya will be at Glorietta 2, Ayala Center, Glorietta Complex, Makati City. For more information, check out SUKIYA Philippines' Facebook page.
