(SPOT.ph) The thing about cafés is that they're so much more than just places to eat and drink; when you've got a beautifully designed space, being in café's premises can make a for a real stimulating sight and evoke the amazement of being in a whole different world. One small yet must-visit spot delivers the feel of being in a bright and carefree haven, with Mexican flair to boot: Check out Grateful Café in Mandaluyong.

This colorful cafe in Mandaluyong is well worth a visit:
Grateful Café goes for a spirited and colorful vibe that's a real treat for the eyes, but maintains a rustic and laidback feel that makes it easy to feel at home. There's a bit of a Latin-American leaning atmosphere to the place, with vibrant hues of yellow, blue, and green on the tables, chairs, and door that pop out beautifully against the taupe wall. On the walls are works of art, and their space is decked with mats, covers, and other accessories with intricate patterns and contrasting textures. And then there's the greenery and flowers at their al-fresco area—yup, you'll want to bring out your smartphone cameras for this one. Or better yet, keep your phone away and just relish the experience of being in their space.

The food and drink selection falls on the light and invigorating side—just the thing to complement the vivacious ambience of the café. Sip away on freshly squeezed juices like the Sunny Orange (P250) and Aha Grapes (P250), or go for one of their so-called "detox" juices like the zippy-citrusy Morning Glory Detox (P350) with carrots, oranges, ginger, lemon, and turmeric or the earthy-sweet Herbal Green Detox (P350) with cucumber, spinach, basil, celery, cilantro, ginger, green apple, lemon, and Himalayan salt. For savory bites, go ahead and nosh on their sandwiches—among which are the Corned Beef Sandwich (P180) with salt-cured beef brisket, and the Egg Sandwich (P100) that employs free-range eggs.

If it's caffeine you seek, they've got a short yet sweet lineup of regular and specialty coffee drinks—from good ol' Cafe Latte (P130) with espresso and almond milk, to the earthy-robust Dirty Matcha (P130) with espresso and gyokuro green tea plus almond milk, to the more indulgent Cloud Vanilla (P160) with espresso, vanilla, and almond milk. Go ahead and grab a table and order your drink and dish of choice, then just soak up the sights and take in all the flavors—it doesn't take much to be in paradise, really.
