Mango Jerk Shrimp from Mensie's Jerk House
Jerk—we're talking in the food context of course—refers to the Jamaican method of cooking where proteins and other ingredients are marinated in a special mixture (usually including a variety of spices and Scotch Bonnet pepper), then smoked and grilled. Though this is most commonly used for chicken, small shop Mensie's Jerk House ingeniously gives shrimp the jerk treatment in the Mango Jerk Shrimps (P480). As the name implies the shrimps here are paired with fresh, sweet mangoes for a vivifying, tropical-style bite.

How’s this for luxe? Greenbelt maven Lusso goes all out with their decidedly lavish Live Lobster Linguine (P3,250/good for two). In its classic state, the Thai soup known as tom yum is on the hearty and warming side—but Made in BKK turns it on its head in the crispified, deconstructed version dubbed the Tom Yum Puff Noods (P920).
