(SPOT.ph) The world of whisky is as vast as it is fascinating, as the alcoholic distilled beverage has a rich history and goes by multiple styles around the globe. Apart from making for a dapper drink whether it's sipped neat, on the rocks, or mixed into a Manhattan or Old-Fashioned, whisky can also pair beautifully with all kinds of eats—be it classically elegant Western or continental fare, or even the zen, minimalist flavors that Japanese food is known for. Curious about how versatile the spirit can be? You'll want to make space on your schedule this week, as Solaire is holding their 2022 Whisky Festival starting today, May 18 until May 22.

The five-day festival involves a lineup of events that feature top-tier brands of whisky from around the globe—some of which are Jack Daniels, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, Dalmore, Macallan, Diageo, Balvenie, Woodford Reserve, and William Grant—at the different dining establishments of Solaire. Not only is it a great opportunity to learn more about the distilled drink; you'll also be able to connect with fellow enthusiasts and ultimately see whisky in a whole different light.

Get a taste of rare and exceptional whiskies with masterclasses like the Dalmore Masterclass (P1,999) on May 20, or hit up Solaire's different restaurants for happy hour specials where you can try clever cocktails using some of the world's best whiskies. If you're one to celebrate the weekend by boozing up first thing in the morning, consider freeing up your Sunday and heading over to one of Solaire's Sunday brunches—which include the Dalmore Royal Whisky Brunch (P6,999) at Finestra and Japanese Whisky Brunch (P3,988) at Yakumi—on May 22.

Over at Solaire's resident bars and boutiques—of which are Baccarat Room & Bar, Oasis, and Fresh—you can catch special flights and pop-up menus throughout the four days, highlighting special bottles you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. You can also see for yourself how well whisky can complement Italian, Japanese, or even Chinese fare at one of Solaire's whisky dinners and rare & aged exclusive dinners; among these are the Japanese Whisky Dinner (P6,888) at Yakumi on May 19, the Balvenie Whisky Dinner (P8,888) at Red Lantern also on May 19, and the the Dalmore Gala Dinner (P9,999) at Finestra on May 21.
