(SPOT.ph) The resurgence of folks dining out might lead you to conclude Manila's dining scene is back to its old groove—true enough, we've seen plenty of restaurants opening and reopening in the past few months. But the battle isn't quite over, and recently another long-time icon of a restaurant bit the dust. We're talking about Alfredo's Steak House, which closed down yesterday, June 30.

News of the closure spread on social media and was confirmed by SPOT.ph through a call to their mobile number. As of writing, there's no official word about whether the Quezon City steak spot will be reopening soon, so hold on to those memories for now.
Long-time patrons would know the timeless appeal of Alfredo’s Steak House by heart, as they've been serving some of the best steaks in the area since opening in 1968. The Varsitarian reports that the restaurant started out as Alfredo’s Country-Style Steaks along Timog Avenue and got its moniker from the owner and first chef of the restaurant, Alfredo Araneta. With their rise in popularity, they soon expanded and opened Alfredo’s Steakhouse on Tomas Morato avenue in 1973.
If you recall, rumors about their supposed closure spread around June of 2020, but the family denied this and even allowed for pickup and delivery orders. This time, it's real—at least for the time being. They will be missed.
