(SPOT.ph) Over the course of the pandemic, it's fair to say a great number of us started paying closer attention to the food that we ate, particularly our fruit and vegetable intake. But if you were the type who let loose and just started eating whatever you can during the pandemic, hey, we don't blame you. But just in case you want to start eating a bit more healthy moving forward, it's best to go for produce that's more rich in taste, nutrients, and all that supplementary jazz.
Heading out these days, you may be delighted to find that the Thai restaurant Mango Tree is now sourcing all-organic vegetables, produced here within Metro Manila, for their all-new menu items that launch (and will be available only at their BGC and City of Dreams branches) next Friday, July 15. In doing so, they help out local farmers in Quezon City and make sure to serve the freshest vegetables possible, given the shortened travel time, and it's a green thumb's up for us.

Here are the new limited-time offers on Thai restaurant Mango Tree's menu:
To kick off your meal, you've got the newest appetizer on the menu, the Sweet Potato Crab Cakes. This rather large and plump crab cake comes easy to chew, even if you're the type to stuff whole servings in your mouth. Its tenderness makes it the perfect starting point for the spiciness that awaits you with Thai cuisine (and perhaps even a falling back point, should the spiciness of the later dishes get too much).
The Malabar Spinach Salad brings on the spice early on into the course. It's a great showcase for the rich produce used by the kitchen, with its use of Malabar spinach, or alugbati, as well as the addition of crushed almonds. It's a robust salad to take on before getting to the meats.

The new Sour and Spicy Southern Shrimp and Farm Fresh Vegetables Soup adds a whole new dimension to the term hotpot, as it's considered the spiciest addition to the menu. Don't worry, the heat can be handled on its own, so you're free to enjoy spoonful after spoonful of this soup. Just be prepared for when the soup reactivates some of the spices in the main course.
A new meaty selection consisting of stir-fried beef, wok-fried pork belly, and the Stir-fried Jute Leaves with Pork and Shrimp were added to the menu. Our carnivorous side came out especially with the Stir-fried Beef with Curry Paste and Chili Leaves and Wok-fried Pork Belly and Taro with Garlic Chili. We definitely lived on the more adventourous side as these tender meats and crisp vegetables were made more exciting with an ample amount of chili.

These menu items are a limited-time offer only until supplies last, as the restaurant sources these all-organic produce from New Greenland Farm, who supply a varying selection of vegetables that depend on the season, among other harvesting factors.
New Greenland Farm is located in Barangay Bagong Silangan in the northeast part of Quezon City. With the short distance between the farm and the Mango Tree restaurants, the harvest to service time is incredibly lessened, leading to greater quality and freshness. This allows these humble vegetables to be turned into what is normally expected of high-class dishes.
Coming to the Philippines from Thailand in 2010, the Mango Tree group has establishments such as Mango Tree Bistro, Mango Tree Restaurant, and Mango Tree Cafe, among their nine locations in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, New Greenland Farm is part of a project launched by the Quezon City government during the pandemic that's meant to aid local farmers' livelihood. Over 90 farmers work in the 10-hectare-area of land the farm takes up in Quezon City. Aside from harvesting produce for Mango Tree, you can visit and buy from New Greenland Farm yourself.
