Filipino flavors are gaining worldwide recognition these days. Now, who would have guessed that ube would be dominating, too? We're not talking about pastries or ice cream here. This is about booze.
Yes, ube is that versatile, friends—so versatile that the World Liqueur Awards 2022 recently gave the World's Best Cream prize to Disteleria Barako and Agimat at Ugat Foraging Bar's Ube Cream Liqueur.

This isn't the first time that this purple yam concoction has been awarded either. Ube Cream Liqueur also won Double Gold and Philippines First Product Innovation honors at the 2021 SIP Awards in California. SIP is the only internationally recognized spirits competition that have consumers judging the drinks.

Crafted by spirit brand Destileria Barako, Ube Cream Liqueur is a regular offering at its distillery-bar Agimat at Ugat Foraging Bar in Makati. It's made with sugarcane vodka from Negros, full cream, and, of course, ube. This thing is best enjoyed ice, as well.
While brands like Negrense Microbrewery & Food Lab and Destileria Barako have experimented with it in the past, ube as a alcoholic drink is still at its early stages. We're bound to see more of these in the near future.
Ube Cream Liqueur is available on Boozy.ph for about P1,200 or at Liquor.ph for roughly P1,600. It is also available in Agimat at Ugat Foraging Bar and Kitchen in Poblacion, Makati.
