10 Best Celebrity Outfits of 2009

SPOT.ph's style spotter Leona Laviña-Panutat reveals her list of 2009's most fashionable celebrity outfits.

After our 10 Worst Celebrity Outfits of 2009, take a look at the ones that shined:

1. Anne Curtis
Worn at: The Star Magic Ball
Designer: Michael Cinco

She looks Ah-mazing! Her simple Old Hollywood hair and makeup choice goes perfectly with her gorgeous dramatic gown. By keeping her accessories simple, she was able to highlight the beautiful details of her dress.

2.     Kim Chiu
Worn at: The Star Magic Ball
Designer: Paul Cabral

Adorable. She looks like a fairy princess.   I love the color and the cut of her gown. It's youthful, like she is, and fresh, but also quite elegant. Again, when wearing a gown this frou-frou, accessories should be kept simple. Ms. Chiu, of course, doesn't need me to tell her that.

3.     Bea Alonzo
Worn at: The Star Magic Ball
Designer: Francis Libiran

I love it when curvy girls show off their figures! She surely knows how it's done. The pleats hug her curves perfectly and the color looks great against her complexion. I love that she's sporting dark nails. It makes the look younger and a bit edgier.

4.   Gretchen Barretto
Worn at: The Star Magic Ball
Designer: Ivarluski Aseron

Finally, the La Greta we know and love is back. When you're this beautiful and confident, all you need is a simple column dress. She paired the outfit with a knockout pair of heels and quasi-messy hair. The simple makeup completes her fresh, effortless look.

5.   Kris Aquino
Worn at: Jewelmer Greenbelt 5 Store Launch
Designer: Martin Bautista

It's refreshing to see Kris in this slinky jersey number by Martin Bautista. She looks sophisticated and oh-so chic. The color looks pretty on her and the cut is unbelievably flattering–did you know she had such a small waist? Dramatic eye makeup, simple hair and a trusty pair of YSL Tributes complete the sexy look.

6.   Maja Salvador
Outfit from: Topshop and Mango

I love it when stars take a risk. Young ladies should take a hint from Ms. Salvador–fashion should be fun, and now is the perfect time to experiment and learn about your style. By keeping the look monochromatic, she was able to successfully mix two trends without crashing and burning.

7.     Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo
Worn at: Town and Country's 2nd Year Anniversary

It's lovely to see a woman dress her age. Dawn is the epitome of classic sophistication in her black 3/4-sleeved dress. The length and cut of the skirt along with the lace fabric keeps the outfit from looking matronly. Simple gold accessories and sexy Mary Jane pumps complete this timeless look.

8.   Lucy Torres-Gomez
Worn at: Jul B Dizon event

Lucy is always such a lady. She's the perfect example of someone staying true to her style and personality. She looks both sweet and sexy in her delicate tobacco-colored satin frock. Pretty shoes and dainty accessories complete this Lady-Who-Lunches ensemble.

9.   Heart Evangelista
Worn at: Prive Fashion Series: Charina Sarte
Designer: Charina Sarte

I love how Heart's style has evolved from trendy teen to fierce fashionista. This flirty fuchsia frock looks amazing on her petite frame. The color pops out next to her gorgeous complexion. With such a look-at-me dress, all she had to do was add simple accessories such as bangles and a tiny clutch.

  • 10. Iza Calzado
  • Outfit from: Mango

Iza looks great in her classically cut shift. She made the whole thing look younger by choosing to wear it in a gorgeous emerald shade with gold accessories. Add to that a fab pair of shoes and you've got one killer outfit that can go from day to night.
