Now on its 13th year, Cine Europa will screen more films from 17 European countries starting September 10 to September 19 at the Shangri-la Plaza Mall Cineplex in Mandaluyong City. Ambassador Alistair MacDonald, head of the delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, said that the film festival "welcomes films from Bulgaria, Greece and Slovakia, in addition to films from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Romania, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Switzerland."
All screenings are free of charge on a first-come, first served basis. Click here for the schedule and synopses.
The Goethe Institut in Manila will also hold a special screening of The Laughing Star on September 15 at the Alliance Francaise in Makati City. It is a documentary about Philippine history from the Spanish revolution to the Marcos regime. Werner Schroeter, an award-winning German filmmaker who passed away in April, created the film.
Following last year’s partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, one economy ticket to Europe will be up for grabs in this year’s film festival raffle.
