Catch the 9th Spanish Film Festival from September 30 to October 10
See 23 movies from Spain and Latin America and attend workshops by renowned directors.
Now on its ninth year, the Pelicula Spanish Film Festival will feature a total of 23 movies from September 30 to October 10 at the Greenbelt 3 Cinemas. Catch award-winning films like Bolivia, Cachimba, Celda 211, and Garbo, the Spy. On four nights, Pelicula will feature critically recognized flicks from Latin America: The Milk of Sorrow and Captain Pantoja and the Special Services on October 1 (Peru); Bolivia, The Secret in their Eyes and Avellaneda’s Moon on October 4 (Argentina); The Sentimental Teaser and Cachimba on October 5 (Chile); and Otilia Rauda and The Desert Within on October 6 (Mexico).
The closing night of Pelicula on October 10 will feature the Filipino movie Happyland directed by Jim Libiran. It tells the story of "a Spanish missionary priest who starts an unthinkable project in one of Manila’s most impoverished districts--a fighting team for a football tournament in Tondo."

Aside from the screenings, there will also be workshops on scriptwriting and filmmaking by renowned Spanish scriptwriter and film producer Lola Mayo (October 1) and Spanish director Isaki Lacuesta (October 3). Both will present their films on the day of their respective sessions. Plus, Spanish director Miguel Albaladejo will be at the Asian premiere of his films Born to Suffer and Ten Days Without Love on October 7. On October 2 and 10, he will present Manolito Gafotas in a special children’s session.
