An encounter with Ang Lee

SPOT.ph blogger Paul Daza shares video from the celebrated director’s visit to Manila

(SPOT.ph) On the evening of November 28, 2013, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines, in partnership with SM Aura Premier, presented A Salute To Ang Lee, a special by-invitation only event. The affair was held at the IMAX theater of SM Aura, and began with a screening of Lee's latest film, Life of Pi, which won four Academy Awards last February (including a best director Oscar for Lee, his second). The highlight of the homage was a historic open forum with the filmmaker, who was visiting Manila for the very first time. During the Q&A, Lee addressed the crowd of mostly mainstream and budding filmmakers, and spoke engagingly about his experiences as director of such films as Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain, Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Hulk. We got 35 minutes of video from the open forum:
