( The beauty of a democracy is having a voice, and no award show embodies this more than the annual People’s Choice Awards-where actual people decide the winners in every strangely specific category. Famous faces made their way to the Nokia Theater on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila), where the ceremony was hosted by Anna Faris and Allison Janney.

Maleficent took home the award for Favorite Movie and Favorite Family Movie, while Robert Downey Jr. and Jennifer Lawrence bagged the awards for Favorite Movie Actor and Actress, respectively. Lawrence also won for Favorite Action Movie Actress, with Chris Evans winning its male counterpart.

Over on the TV side, The Big Bang Theory won Favorite TV Show and Network TV Comedy, while Outlander bested Game of Thrones and Doctor Who for Favorite Cable Fantasy TV Show. Ellen DeGeneres was the people’s Favorite Daytime TV Host, Viola Davis scored a win for Favorite Actress in a New TV Series, and The Flash won Favorite New TV Drama.

Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift were recognized as Favorite Male and Female Artist, respectively. The latter also won the award for Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Song (for "Shake It Off").
