Less than a week since Zayn Malik announced his departure from One Direction, a demo of his solo material was unveiled to the world. Naughty Boy, the U.K. producer behind Sam Smith’s hugely successful debut album, posted a demo called "I Won’t Mind" online on Tuesday. The song, which still sounds incomplete at this point, features the singer crooning over an acoustic guitar.

The track was posted on Soundcloud (listen above) with the caption: "There is nothing but love for what was left behind. That’s why we don’t mind" with the hashtag #2016, possibly hinting at a release next year.

If you were wondering what the rest of the caption meant, Naughty Boy got into a little Twitter spat with Malik’s ex-bandmate Louis Tomlinson. The drama began when the producer retweeted a video claiming "Zaughty [a portmanteau of his and Malik’s names] will rise." Tomlinson felt that the producer was bragging about working with Malik, saying:

The online argument soon escalated, which ended with Naughty Boy posting the link to the song and tweeting: "Let the music do the talking guys. Thank us later."
