Talkin' 'Bout My Generation

Why you should go: The Bing Austria Show from Bootleg Radio gathers some up-and-coming and promising bands to perform in this free gig! Check out Turbo Goth, Minerva, Dead City Radio, Dream Carousel, and more!

The Killers Night

Where: saGuijo cafe + bar, 7612 Guijo St., San Antonio Village, Makati City

Why you should go: If you’re psyched to see The Killers on September, then you have to catch these bands perform their rendition of The Killers hits, including Mr. Brightside, When You Were Young, Somebody Told Meand more! Included in the line-up are Yolanda Moon, Walkie Talkies, Paranoid City, and other cool bands.

5th Pandayang Lino Brocka

Where: UP Film Center, Diliman, Quezon City

Why you should go: Not only will the films of acclaimed director Lino Brocka be screened for free, there will also be an accompanying discourse to help you better understand what you'll be watching.

Aftershift Jam

Where: B-Side at The Collective, 7274 Malugay St., San Antonio Village, Makati City

Why you should go: Just finished a night shift and don't feel like going home just yet? Drop by B-Side to watch some call center bands perform and rock the morning away. Proceeds of the event go to Project Pearls, a non-profit organization that helps send children to pre-school. They're also accepting noodles to be donated to the victims of Maring.

Other details: Entrance fee P150 inclusive of one free beer. Gig starts 7 a.m.

Against The Current

Where: VMeme Contemporary Art Gallery, 2-C Second Floor CK Bldg. No. 61 Visayas Avenue Vasra, Quezon City

Why you should go: Attend the unveiling of Against the Current: Contemporary Social Realist Art in the Philippines and get schooled on the social realism dimension of art. The exhibit also aims to raise funds for TuKLASan Center, a shelter for street children, and the Free Renante Gamara Movement. Plus, the opening will be preceded by a film showing!
