Celebrities, fashion designers attend
Coco Chanel has the power to bring together Manila's fashionable set at the velvet-rope film screening of "Coco avant Chanel".
Former First Lady Imelda Marcos was among the many guests who came to the by-invitation-only screening of Coco avant Chanel at the Gateway Mall. Manila's fashion designers, celebrities and socialites paid tribute to the visionary fashion designer and icon at the pre-screening cocktails held at the Mandarin Suites. Clad in black-and-white Chanel-inspired outfits, with pearls, tweed and stripes, guests included designers Tippie Ocampo, Jojie Lloren and Inno Sotto, celebrities Anne Curtis, Cheska Garcia-Kramer, Vina Morales, Angelika dela Cruz, Bubbles Paraiso, Chynna Ortaleza, Raymond Gutierrez and Rovilson Fernandez.
"Coco avant Chanel" features French actress Audrey Tautou as the elegant maverick Coco and chronicles the young Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel's life before her rise to fame with her personality and vision.
Through Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel's current Creative Director, the independent film by Anne Fontaine was given rare access to archives and was lent exclusive pieces from Chanel's personal collection of apparel and fine jewelry.
"Coco avant Chanel" is included in this year's list of films to be screened at the 11th Cinemanila. Special screenings are on October 23 and 24.
