15 Minutes with Elmo Magalona

We sat down with the teen star to talk about how to be future-ready.

(SPOT.ph) Teenage life can be pretty complicated, with all the pressure to try new things and fit in-all while trying to be yourself. But it seems that this 19-year-old has things figured out. While not posing for Folded & Hung, singing, rapping, or acting alongside his perennial co-star, Julie Anne, he’s just a regular teen who likes spending time with his family.

We spotted Elmo Magalona at the kick-off event for Unilever brands Pond’s, Rexona, and Cream Silk’s campaign, #TeenWeek, on September 23 and sat down to talk about being a teen and being future-ready.

On his favorite memory from growing up

As a teen, [it would be] spending time with my high school friends-that's the best memory of my teen life.

On the one thing he wishes he had learned sooner

Maybe, more on being yourself. Because when I was in high school, I kept [wanting] to belong to a group of people, but then I learned that [wanting that] is [going to] mess up your personality [sic] and how you grow up. And, recently, I just found out what my personality really is and how I am as a person, and I wish I learned that [sooner].

On being future-ready

Of course, being future-ready [is about] what you want to do in life in the future. Having said that, you have to know what your dream is, what your heart wants, and once you find that out then you just have to keep on doing that thing so that you become better and better-with practice of course. And, then you know, you master that skill of yours.

On the things he wants to do more

Definitely, travelling. I haven't really experienced it myself because I only travel because of work and I haven't been to Palawan, Bicol, or to a lot of different places. So, I want to start in the Philippines first.
