15 Minutes with Julia Barretto
One of the year’s biggest new stars shares her thoughts on family, being in the spotlight, and dealing with rumors.
(SPOT.ph) With one controversy after another, and skeletons in their closets being exposed for the public to feast upon, carrying the Barretto name may seem more of a liability than an asset nowadays. But this is not the case for Julia Barretto. Deemed as one of the most promising stars in ABS-CBN's pool of talents, Julia Barretto is on her way to proving that there's more to her family than negative publicity and that she's a perfect fit for the title "showbiz royalty."
At Hyve last December 11, Julia dished on her family's current crisis, being in the limelight, and being pegged as the latest "It Girl."
On Claudine and the never-ending Battle of the Barrettos
As of the moment, Julia’s reputation remains untarnished amidst controversies plaguing her family. While she prefers to keep mum about the year’s most talked about family feud and sidesteps the issue altogether, the Barretto darling admits she hopes to follow her Aunt Claudine's footsteps and become a successful dramatic actress, and regrets the" forced" estrangement from her.
On dealing with rumors and intrigues
Being in the limelight is not without its downsides-one of which is having to deal with rumors being circulated about you. Julia is no exemption. She graciously dispelled recent rumors of being the third party in the budding offscreen romance between Kapamilya mainstays Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. She further clarified that it was the executive producer of Mirabella-the teleserye which she is currently part of-who Daniel visited on the set and not her. She's even a self-confessed "KathNiel" fan and quickly added that dealing with intrigue is part of her job.
On her new endorsement
she’s been turning heads since the age of 10. Starring in her first-ever TVC in 2008 for Palmolive Naturals Fashion Girl, Julia was a self-declared Palmolive baby. And now that she has come of age, the newest addition to the brand’s roster of endorsers happily shares that she's beyond thrilled to have been chosen to be the face of their new product.
On being an actress and sharing the spotlight
Since her launch earlier this year as a member of ABS-CBN's Star Magic Batch 19, Julia's life has been anything but normal. TV guestings, photo shoots, and her acting debut in Mirabella keep her on a tight schedule. But the 16-year-old "It Girl" claims she enjoys what she's doing and would willingly share the spotlight with anyone.
