(SPOT.ph) The Sofitel Manila Half Marathon 2014 held last August 26 attracted 6,000 runners, with proceeds going towards Manila street children (through the Virlanie Foundation). This year’s event was the most successful run organized by the hotel of its three fun runs, with nearly double in registration numbers. More than 3,500 runners registered for the 21k category alone.
Â
Among those running for a cause were Rovilson Fernandez, Kim, Atienza, Miriam Quiambao-Roberto with husband Ardy Roberto, Jay-R, and Kris Lawrence.
Â
"The Sofitel Half Marathon aims to put Manila on the runners world map. The success of the run is due to the collaboration with RunRio as well as sponsors like Gatorade, Timex and Gold's Gym." says Adam Laker, Sofitel Philippine Plaza General Manager.
Â
RunRio, led by Coach Rio de la Cruz, is the premier running event organizer in the country. This year’s marathon follows two highly successful running events brought about by the Sofitel-RunRio partnership in 2013: The Sofitel Runrio Battle of the Sexes Leg 1 and 2.
