Brillante Mendoza's Taklub has officially been added to the festival's Un Certain Regard sidebar. The film revolves around victims of supertyphoon Yolanda, and stars Nora Aunor as a mother who lost three children during the storm, but is still in denial. It also stars Julio Diaz, Rome Mallari, and Aaron Rivera.
Taklub is one of 19 films competing for the Prix Un Certain Regard, which will help the winning film get distribution in France. Actress Isabella Rossellini (daughter of legendary actress Ingrid Bergman) will head the section's jury composed of artists, journalists, and festival directors.
Mendoza is no stranger to Cannes, having won Best Director in 2009 for Kinatay, aside from joining the Main Competition for Serbis in 2008. He and Nora have previously worked together in the 2012 film, Thy Womb.
