It really happened: Game of Thrones just killed a major character
We cannot emphasize this enough: Spoiler alert!
(SPOT.ph) Before we begin, we're going to say this again: Do not proceed if you haven't seen the latest episode of Game of Thrones.
Fans know by now that the latest season of Thrones has gone off-book. There's that Sansa (Sophie Turner) brutal rape scene and the sudden meeting between Tyrion and Daenerys (Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke, respectively), but the Season 5 finale really, really changed things.
It looks like you have to bid farewell to fan-favorite Jon Snow, who suffered at the hands of a band of Night's Watch conspirators. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kit Harington confirmed the death, saying the showrunners sat him down to tell him and added, "I’m not coming back next season."
That's not all, folks. Even Stannis, the last of the Baratheon brothers, didn't have much luck. His death? Partly from battle, but mostly from Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) whom you might remember sought revenge for the death of Renly Baratheon. We have yet to hear from Stephen Dillane (who plays Stannis) to confirm if this is really the last time we'll see him.
If you're heartbroken from all the brutal bloodshed, maybe you can seek solace from George R.R. Martin's still-ongoing books where the two characters are still very much alive.
