(SPOT.ph) John Lloyd Cruz and director Erik Matti's new movie might not have made it to the final eight films of this year's Metro Manila Film Festival, but it is now part of the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
This year's lineup of Contempary World Cinema has finally been revealed, which includes the world premiere of Honor Thy Father (also known locally as Conman). The category is a "snapshot of the best in cinema from around the world." The trailer, released by TIFF, features him and Meryll Soriano as a married couple who are caught in a complicated Ponzi scheme.
In an earlier interview with PEP.ph, John Lloyd explained, "It’s a story about a man na merong napakadilim na past na tinalikuran na niya dahil sa pamilya. Pero dahil sa current circumstances na kinakaharap niya, napilitan siyang kumapit sa patalim."
The film may still have a chance to enter the MMFF. Reports say that Robin Padilla's Nilalang may not make it to the final lineup, which means the slot either goes to Honor Thy Father or Lovi Poe's Lakambini.
