Miss Philippines wins Miss Universe 2015 + more epic highlights from the show

We give you the biggest highlights from this year's most-awaited pageant!

(SPOT.ph) The year's most-awaited pageant for Pinoys happened today, bringing together the most gorgeous ladies from around the globe to compete for the crown. In the end, it was Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach who took home the title of Miss Universe, besting Miss Colombia who was first runner-up, and Miss USA as second runner-up in quite possibly the biggest plot twist...ever.

The show started off with the usual parade of National Costumes, as Miss Philippines wowed in an embellished, all-white gown by designer Albert Andrada.

Others went for the shocking route, including Miss Austria who came dressed as Austrian recording artist and drag queen, Conchita Wurst. Meanwhile, others seemed to have taken their costume inspiration from the recent Victoria's Secret Fashion Show...or Mockingjay.

The segment was followed by the announcement of the Top 15 and the Swimsuit Competition, where Pia wowed audiences, as well as the Internet.

White was the general color of choice for the Evening Gown Competition, but Pia stood out with a blue structured gown, also by Albert Andrada.

In a shocking moment, judge Perez Hilton managed to take a jab at controversial presidential candidate Donald Trump, who recently sold the Miss Universe Organization.

To add more stress to Pinoy viewers, the voting site repeatedly crashed due to heavy traffic. Still, Pia emerged victorious and won the most votes for both the Swimsuit and Evening Gown competition.

When it came to the Q&A portion, this year's pageant didn't hold anything back and went with tough questions on current events. For instance, Miss USA was asked about gun control while Miss France was quizzed on terrorism. Meanwhile, this was Pia's answer to the presence of U.S. military presence in the country:

When the Top 3 ladies were announced, their final Q&A portion was scored by a sixth judge: The rest of the 77 contestants from the show. When asked why she should be crowned Miss Universe, this was Pia's answer:

And finally, the biggest plot twist of allhost Steve Harvey announced that Miss Colombia was the new Miss Universe...

...only to make quite possibly the most awkward blunder in pageant history. He later apologized and Pia was officially crowned with the title.

Congratulations, Pia!
