WATCH: Two strangers come together after winning the lottery in this charming rom-com
Catch it at this year's CineFilipino Film Festival.
(SPOT.ph) Nothing says rom-com more than a unique meet cute that brings two strangers together. In the case of this new Pinoy indie film, it's a winning lottery ticket.
Isabelle de Leon plays Kayela, an ambitious woman with dreams of becoming rich, while Martin Escudero plays Itot, a hard-working cab driver whose only goal is to provide for his family. They cross paths while in line to buy lottery tickets; Kayela manages to annoy Itot enough that he gives her a set of lottery numbers just to get rid of her.
The story kicks into gear when Itot is in desperate need of money and he searches for the woman who won the lottery with his ticket numbers. Throw in a lot of hijinks, a pair of petty thieves, a missing ticket, and a bus that goes awry—and you've got the perfect formula for a charming Pinoy rom-com.
The film is directed by newcomer Carla Baful, and is part of the CineFilipino Film Festival that runs from now through March 22 at selected cinemas including Gateway Cineplex, Shangri-La Cineplex, Robinsons Galleria, Greenhills Theater Mall, and Eastwood Cinemas.
