It's really happening: The Philippines is hosting the next Miss Universe pageant

(SPOT.ph) According to a report by PEP.ph, Department of Tourism Sec. Wanda Corazon Teo has confirmed that the Philippines will officially be hosting Miss Universe 2016. Teo was with reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach at a press conference today, July 28, when she announced the news.
Wurtzbach took to her official Facebook page (above) to break the news. Teo told members of the press that the private sector will cover the expenses of the pageant, but did not disclose if an official venue has been set.
The coronation night is set for January 30, 2017, with Maxine Medina as the Philippines' bet for the crown.
