WATCH: Have you seen Ely Buendia's latest musical project?

Music fans, you need to keep Apartel on your radar.

( First of all, don't believe what they say—OPM is thriving and more alive than ever. Old favorites may come and go, but there are plenty of new and must-listen music out there.

Take Ely Buendia, for instance. Whether it's the Eraserheads, Pupil, or The Oktaves, you can always expect something new and different from him. The same holds true for his latest project: Apartel, whose members also include Jay Ortega (of Gnash and DRT), Pat Sarabia, RJ Pineda, Coco Coo, and Redge Concepcion.

Apartel's refreshing sound is unlike anything Buendia and Ortega have done before. It's distinctly old-school funk, blues, and soul music that will take you back to the '60s and '70s, with elements of brass, saxophones, and horns.

The band recently released the music video (above) for their single, "Is It Hip?", which is off their album Inner Play. (According to, it will be available on vinyl format or digital streaming and download.) The cinematic video, running at almost 10 minutes, is directed by filmmaker Marie Jamora, who is best known for the music-fueled 2012 indie film, Ang Nawawala.
