LGBT-themed indie film Baka Bukas is finally getting a nationwide release

(SPOT.ph) As more and more film festivals hit the Metro, plenty of folks are beginning to embrace local independent cinema. It also means more chances of seeing these gems on a much larger scale!
Baka Bukas is the latest film festival entry that's getting a nationwide release, this time on March 1. The film was originally part of the the 2016 Cinema One Originals, where it won a number of awards, including Best Actress and Audience Choice.
Jasmine Curtis-Smith stars as Alex, a 20-year-old struggling with commitment issues and grappling with her unresolved feelings for her best friend (Louise delos Reyes). Directed by Samantha Lee, the film was praised for its honest and heartfelt portrayal of the LGBT+ community.
