Liza Soberano's manager confirms she's one of the "choices" for Darna
Ogie Diaz says they'll take the role if it's offered to her.
(SPOT.ph) As the Darna debates continue to heat up social media, one of the names that consistently crops up is that of Liza Soberano. The 19-year-old actress has been an early favorite since 2016 after Angel Locsin initially backed out from doing the new movie.
In a report by ABS-CBN's Push, Soberano's manager, Ogie Diaz confirmed that she was "considered as the next Darna." He was quoted saying, "Isa siya sa mga choices" and added that they will accept the role should it be offered to Soberano.
"Imagine-in mo 'yong history ng mga gumanap na Darna, like si Ate Vi [Vilma Santos], so kung si Liza ang mapipili for the role, siyempre tatangapin namin 'yon," he continued. However, he turned down suggestions for Soberano to join beauty pageants and explained, "Ang dapat sumali sa Binibining Pilipinas, 'yong mga baguhan lang, na kung mananalo sila ay makakatulong sa kanila 'yong title."
Soberano is currently the new face of Sunnies Studios' "Girl on the TV" campaign, and she's also an endorser for other brands such as Maybelline, Olay, Palmolive, Kashieca, and Samsung.
