WATCH: Director Jerrold Tarog on his favorite Filipino films and the best TV show ever
Mild spoiler: He wants to work with John Lloyd Cruz!
(SPOT.ph) Filmmaker Jerrold Tarog has delved into many genres: coming-of-age (Senior Year in 2010), romance (Sana Dati in 2013), horror (Shake, Rattle & Roll in 2010, 2011, and 2014), and historical biopics (Heneral Luna in 2015). So it's only fair that SPOT.ph asked him what genres he'd like to do next. "Straight drama or straight comedy," he answered with a smile. But when it comes to his favorite films, he's a little bit more picky about what he likes.

Crying Ladies trailer
Tarog admitted he doesn't actually have a favorite Filipino movie, but he does have two that inspired him to become a filmmaker: Laurice Guillen's Tanging Yaman and Mark Meilly's Crying Ladies. "Na-realize ko [at the time] na kaya natin gumawa ng something na quality," he shared.
The Wire trailer
As for his favorite TV shows, his ultimate best is HBO's classic crime drama, The Wire. "Then followed by Breaking Bad," he shared. "Ako personally, favorite ko is Freaks and Geeks. Mahal na mahal ko ‘yon."
We also couldn't resist asking him about the actors he'd like to work with, given the chance. "John Lloyd," he answered almost immediately. "Si Anne Curtis din actually, since I wrote Bliss for her pero ‘di natuloy." We're counting down the days until we see those films come to life.
