It's official: There's going to be a second On The Job film
...aside from the miniseries!
(SPOT.ph) The harsh and gritty world of On The Job is about to get a whole lot bigger. Streaming site HOOQ has officially announced that Erik Matti's original film will be getting a second installment, but it's not exactly a sequel.
Instead, the second movie will be a spin-off and will serve as the starting point for the initially planned miniseries, announced in December. According to HOOQ's CEO Peter Bithos, the story will still be the same, and added, "We took the first episode and instead of [a] pilot [episode], we’re turning it into a full theatrical movie."
The storyline ties in to the events of the first film, and features Bela Padilla and Teroy Guzman as a pair of journalists who must investigate the bloody massacre of eight other journalists. The cast also includes Leo Martinez (reprising his original role), Neil Ryan Sese, Dominic Ocha, Smokey Manaloto, Arjo Atayde, and Ria Atayde.
The movie is slated for an August release on HOOQ, followed by the five-part miniseries a month later.
