Cinematheque Centre Manila to Screen Free Movies for Pride Month

The CineMakulay Film Festival starts on June 17.

(SPOT.ph) Pride month will keep you busy with a number of exciting activities lined up throughout June. For one, there's CineMakulay Film Festival at the Cinematheque Centre Manila happening on June 17, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. The film festival will screen short films and documentaries by independent filmmakers. The CineMakulay Film Festival is organized by Bahaghari and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

Check out the complete lineup:

The entries feature colorful stories from the LGBT community such as coming out, discrimination, gender identity, gender and class, gender and labor, HIV and health, gender and justice, among other important issues. Did we mention that tickets are absolutely free?

One of the official entries is Pua Iyam by Juan Pablo Pineda III and Indie-Go Pictures. The trailer points toward a couple of hugot themes, clearly established with a description that reads: “Ito ang kwento ng istoryang hindi nabuo." We're definitely intrigued.

The Cinemetheque Center Manila is at 855 T.M. Kalaw Street, Ermita, Manila. For more information, log on to Bahaghari's Facebook page.
