Sarah Lahbati Is Open to Playing Valentina in New Darna Movie
(SPOT.ph) The talks of who's playing Valentina opposite Liza Soberano's Darna have been brewing since April. One of the first names to pop up was ABS-CBN actress Sarah Lahbati, who probably remains as one of the fan-favorites until today.
In an interview with PEP.ph, Lahbati said she was open to taking on the famous villain role, though she added even she was in the dark about it. "[I'd] love to portray a villain. When I was a kid, I would [always] watch superhero movies. Talagang it’s something close to my heart," she said. She added that her background in Muay Thai and boxing could also help her in fight scenes.
"Siyempre ayoko rin umasa kasi alam kong kung meant to be for me, meant to be. Kung para sa iba, para sa iba," she said. When asked about Anne Curtis, who is also rumored for the role, Lahbati said she will "support [her] VIVA sister."
A winner of GMA 7's reality talent search StarStruck, Lahbati nabbed lead roles in the network before making a controversial switch to ABS-CBN in 2013. Since her transfer, she's become a regular on ASAP and was seen in the short-lived series, My Super D.
Her latest film, Ang Pagsanib Kay Leah Dela Cruz (produced by Darna director Erik Matti), is slated for release June 28.
