The Wait Is Over: Sam Smith Is Back With a New Single
Ready your feels.
(SPOT.ph) It's finally here! After two long years away from the radio and lots of teasers, Sam Smith is back with "Too Good at Goodbyes." It's his first single since 2015's "Writing's on the Wall," which won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
Written by Jimmy Napes and the duo Stargate, the song talks about past relationships and getting used to break-ups to the point of being an expert at saying goodbye. A piano accompanies a harmonizing choir with relatable lyrics like, "I'm never gonna let you close to me / Even though you mean the most to me / 'Cause every time I open up, it hurts." It's got the same soul-slash-pop vibe that made his 2014 album, In the Lonely Hour, a commercial success.
There's no word yet on what his new album is going to be called or the exact date of its release—just that it'll be here before Christmas. But if his first single is any indication, we've got a lot more feels headed our way.
