WATCH: Emma Stone's Exciting New Movie Hits PH Cinemas This December
She reunites with her Crazy Stupid Love co-star!
(SPOT.ph) If, like us, you miss seeing Emma Stone's on-screen charm (her last film was 2016's La La Land), you don't have to wait any longer! Her newest project, a biopic-slash-dramedy, is hitting theaters in December, and it's something that will hit very close to home for women.
Based on real-life events that transpired in 1973, Emma plays tennis star Billie Jean King, who takes on former men's champion (and proudly self-proclaimed sexist) Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) in an epic match. This said match eventually became one of the most-watched sporting events of all time.
The film also delves into the two players' fascinating personal lives, such as Bobby's addiction to gambling and Billie trying to come to terms with her sexuality. More than that, the aptly named Battle of the Sexes is set in the '70s—a time where women's rights were on the rise and the sexual revolution was at an all-time high.
The movie was the closing film of the recently concluded Cinema One Originals, and will hit local theaters nationwide on December 6.
