WATCH: Netflix's Newest Original Series Is a Neon-Filled Sci-Fi Thriller
It's already so pretty to look at!
(SPOT.ph) If you were one of the many sci-fi fans who loved 2017's Blade Runner 2049, you'll probably love Netflix's newest and most promising offering yet.
Altered Carbon is inspired by a 2002 noir sci-fi novel by Richard K. Morgan set more than 300 years in the future. In this cyberpunk world, people can digitally implant their memories and personalities into a new body. This allows the wealthy to avoid dying by simply switching from body to body.
Takeshi Kovacs (Suicide Squad's Joel Kinnaman) is the lone survivor of an elite military group whose mind was "imprisoned on ice" for centuries. He is awakened and hired by the world's richest man, Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), to investigate a curious case: Bancroft's previous body was murdered, and he wants to know why.
The recently released trailer has everything a Blade Runner fan could love, from futuristic flying cars to eye-popping skyscrapers filled with neon lights. Altered Carbon stars streaming on Netflix on February 2, 2018.
