This Pinoy Version of Harry Potter Will Make You LOL
We love you, Internet.
(SPOT.ph) Now that we somehow have to wrap our minds around the fact that a Pinoy version of Ocean’s Eleven is supposedly in the works, we might as well take a look at what other famous movies would look like if they were set in the Philippines. Using the hashtag #PinoyHarryPotter, Twitter user Macoy Averilla (@macoypatotoy) shared what his dream cast would look like if Pinoy actors had roles in the magical movie series. He subsequently posted the thread on Facebook and of course, the Internet also had something to say.
The fictional cast includes Ronaldo Valdez as Albus Dumbledore, Pen Medina as Sirius Black, Connie Reyes as Dolores Umbridge (though other people suggested Jaclyn Jose), Dagul as Professor Filius Flitwick, Kim Chiu as Cho Chang, Carlo Aquino as Ron Weasley, PNP Chief Bato dela Rosa as Lord Voldemort, and Ryan Agoncillo as Harry Potter.
Others also suggested that Mocha Uson can play Rita Skeeter.
But it’s not just the characters who get a Pinoy version. The magical items from the movie get their own counterparts, too. The Sorting Hat is a salakot, the Hogwarts Express is the Philippine National Railway, the Nimbus 2000 is a walis tingting, and the Cloak of Invisibility is a checkered mantel (a.k.a. tablecloth).
As for the Potterverse's famous places, busy Diagon Alley is none other than the even-busier Divisoria. Passengers get onboard the Hogwarts Express on Platform 9 ¾, which is an LRT station (though we're not sure which), and Azkaban is the New Bilibid Prison.
