Good News, Indie Movie Fans: You Still Have a Chance to Catch Citizen Jake This Month
We've got another screening!
(SPOT.ph) The highly anticipated comeback film of celebrated auteur Mike de Leon finally premiered with an invitational screening on March 10 at the Cine Adarna in U.P. Diliman. It also had a public screening last March 13, but if you weren't able to attend either event, we've got some good news! There will be another public screening of the movie on March 23 at 7 p.m., still at the Cine Adarna. Tickets are at P150.
The movie, which is de Leon's first after 18 long years, stars real-life journalist Atom Araullo as fictional journalist Jake Herrera. Herrera finds himself in the middle of a political feud that also involves his family. He's also investigating the brutal rape and murder of a female student, which leads him to the bigger problem of dirty politics and blackmail.
It is Araullo's first acting role, and he also helped write the movie along with de Leon and Noel Pascual. The film also stars Max Collins, Cherie Gil, Luis Alandy, Dina Bonnevie, Gabby Eigenmann, Teroy Guzman, and Nonie Buencamino.
