WATCH: Here's Your First Look at the Meteor Garden Reboot Airing This Year
They've finally finished shooting!
(SPOT.ph) They've teased us with a photoshoot announcement, character posters, and most recently, a video of the stars singing the iconic theme song of the show. And now, it seems that the 2018 reboot of Meteor Garden is closer than ever. They finally finished filming and to celebrate, they released a behind-the-scenes video that also serves as an introduction to the new cast members playing your favorite characters from the series.
The video shows the intense 145-day shoot of the cast and crew that was done in seven locations around the world including China and London. The grand scale makes sense given that the show reportedly has a whopping budget of NT $15 million per episode! That's 30 times more than the budget for the original show aired in 2001.
Aside from the grand locations, the video also shows the stunts that the young cast did for the show. Even Dylan Wang, who now succeeds Jerry Yan as Dao Ming Si, got injured on set, with a doctor telling him he needs at least three weeks to recover. There's no word yet if Shan Cai's infamous running-after-Dao-Ming-Si's-bus-while-holding-groceries scene is included, though.
Shan Cai, previously played by Barbie Hsu, is now played by newbie Chinese actress Shen Yue. The cast also includes Darren Chen as Hua Ze Lei, Connor Leong as Mei Zuo, and Caesar Wu as Xi Men. The original show's producer Angie Cai is also producing the reboot, so it'll hopefully have the same things you loved about the first one. The 48-episode show is set to air on ABS-CBN though there have been no announcements yet about its premiere. Fingers crossed it's coming soon!
