WATCH: Birdshot's Director Is Back With A Supernatural Horror Flick That'll Haunt You
It stars Bea Alonzo and Charo Santos-Concio.
(SPOT.ph) After wowing local and international audiences in film festivals with Birdshot—that was also the first-ever Filipino film to be released on Netflix, no big deal—director Mikhail Red is ready to show movie buffs more of his talent. This time, he's showing it through super creepy scenes and a (literally) haunting story in Eerie, a horror-mystery film. You'll be even more impressed with the young director when you see that his latest offering stars veteran actresses Charo Santos-Concio and Bea Alonzo. It's Alonzo's first work in horror while it is Santos-Cancio's second after Mike de Leon's Itim in 1976.
The story, set in 1999, revolves around the clairvoyant Pat (Alonzo), who works as a guidance counselor in an all-girls school. Every midnight, she talks with the ghost of a student named Eri, who died by suicide. But her usual routine is disturbed when another student is murdered on school grounds. A male investigator arrives to try and solve the case, but Pat knows that only Eri would know what happened.
Produced by Star Cinema, the movie also stars Jake Cuenca and Maxene Magalona. It was chosen among 15 other films at the Bucheon International Film Festival's movie-pitching forum in 2017. It's set to premiere at this year's festival in July. It's also set to screen in Philippine theaters soon.
