Rockwell's New Cinemas in San Juan Are Perfect If You Don't Like Crowds
And if you like free parking.
(SPOT.ph) Going to the movies may seem kind of daunting when you know there are long lines waiting for you at the theater. When you finally do get your ticket, you still have make your way around the maze of people and their popcorn. That's why it's nice to find (and have) a friendly neighborhood cinema that you can just head to without worrying about the hordes of people who are also there to catch a movie. That new go-to might just be Santolan Town Plazas' Power Plant Cinemas in San Juan, near Little Baguio.
The cinemas—which opened in December 2017—may have been an open secret for a while. But they're still a hidden gem, especially for those groups of friends who can't seem to decide whether they're meeting up North or down South. (Hey, San Juan is a great compromise, right?)
There are four cinemas in the complex, and of course, there's a snack bar (though you're not limited to buying from there). Cinemas 3 and 4 are regular cinemas with 153 comfy seats each. Ticket prices for these cinemas are at P270.
Cinemas 1 and 2 come with world-class Dolby Atmos sound systems. That means there's an overhead sound source giving you more high-quality audio to go along with your movie. Tickets for these 172-seater cinemas are at P280 each.
If you're the type of moviegoer who has to check how long a movie is because parking is expensive AF, here's the best part: Parking is free! You just have to show a receipt from any of the establishments at Santolan Town Plaza or you can also show your movie ticket. That means you can have a movie marathon and not feel bad about staying too long. You can plan out which movies you'll be watching on their website and even reserve as many as 10 tickets in advance.
Santolan Town Plaza is at 276 Santolan Road (a.k.a. Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue), San Juan City.
