WATCH: The Stars of Netflix's Set It Up Read Famous Lines From Classic Pinoy Movies
"Only bananas have hearts."
(SPOT.ph) There are a lot of lines from classic movies almost anyone can quote on command—but if Pinoys know anything by heart, it's sure to be a hugot quote from a kilig-worthy rom-com. You're sure to remember Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal's confrontation scene from Labs Kita, Okey Ka Lang? about falling in love with your best friend. And if you don't remember John Lloyd Cruz's "She had me at my worst, you had me at my best, at binalewala mo lang lahat 'yon!" tirade from One More Chance, did you really even watch the movie?
Now, you can fall in love with those quotes all over again—and a new rom-com pairing while you're at it. The stars of Netflix's latest rom-com Set It Up, Glen Powell and Zoey Deutch, have a video reenacting those unforgettable quotes Hollywood style.
In addition to Magdangal and Cruz's lines, they also deliver Claudine Barretto's scathing line from Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita (about looking like a chewing gum). And of course, you've got "Saging lang ang may puso," from Mark Lapid in Apoy sa Dibdib ng Samar. You can just imagine what reading those lines must've been like without context. The two actors deliver the lines with props, of course. But they also can't get through them without laughing and making fun of each other. (We cried from laughing, too.)
In Set It Up, Powell and Deutch play Charlie and Harper, respectively. They're two assistants of two workaholic bosses (Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu), and to save themselves from their bosses' impossible tasks, they decide to set them up and get them into in a relationship with each other. With a disgustingly funny meet-cute, charming characters, and one crazy idea after the other, the movie makes for a feel-good watch—kind of like the stars reading Pinoy lines.
Set It Up is now streaming on Netflix.
