The Meteor Garden 2018 Reboot Is Finally Premiering This Month
Plus, there's a new trailer and music video!
(SPOT.ph) Anyone who grew up watching Shan Cai (then Barbie Hsu) and Dao Ming Si's (then Jerry Yan) love-hate relationship in the early 2000s is sure to have freaked out when it was announced that fan-favorite Meteor Garden will be getting a reboot. It was made even better by the fact that the original showrunner, Angie Cai, will be helming the series once again—this time with a bigger budget (at around NT $15 million per episode!) and with an all-new cast. They've teased fans with photoshoots, character posters, a clip of the cast singing the famous theme song, a behind-the-scenes video, and a nearly three-minute long official trailer.
But the wait is almost over, because Meteor Garden will finally be premiering on July 9 on China's Hunan TV Station. There are no announcements yet about when it'll air in the Philippines, but Pinoy fans can rest easy because ABS-CBN has already acquired the rights to the show, so you'll probably be seeing it on screen soon enough.
In the meantime, they've posted a music video of the show's official soundtrack song, "Ni Yao De Ai" ("The Love You Want"), that also gives a preview of the series. With the slow song's sad melody, you'll immediately feel connected to the dramatic scenes that show Shan Cai (played by Chinese actress Shen Yue) in a complicated relationship with Dao Ming Si (played by Dylan Wang). You even get a glimpse of the love triangle that also includes Hua Ze Lei (Darren Chen). And of course, the F4 gang isn't complete without Xi Men (Caesar Wu) and Mei Zuo (Connor Leong).
If that's not enough for you to fangirl over, there's also a funny new trailer depicting the fun dynamics among all the characters of the show. You can see Shan Cai plotting her attacks on the F4 and the F4 (but mainly Dao Ming Si) planning their revenge as well. There are even a few kilig-worthy clips that's sure to get you shipping Shan Cai and Dao Ming Si all over again!
