If You're a Fan of Fight Club, This Pinoy Mixed Martial Arts Movie Is Right Up Your Alley
It hits theaters this month!
(SPOT.ph) Pinoy movie buffs have been treated to a couple of great action movies this year—like the critically acclaimed BuyBust and the gory crime-thriller that is We Will Not Die Tonight. Adding to that list is a movie that's a bit different but just as action-packed, as it centers around mixed martial arts. Viva Entertainments' The Trigonal: Fight for Justice is an action-drama that's set to hit (no pun intended) theaters on September 26. It first premiered at the Cannes Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market) at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in May 2018.
The Trigonal: Fight for Justice tells the story of Jacob Casa (played by Taekwondo black belter Ian Ignacio), a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who retires to take care of his wife Annie (Rhian Ramos) and their child. But then he is lured into the world of underground fighting, where fighters are paid large amounts of money by a violent drug lord to test out experimental substances. So, if you're a fan of MMA and violently awesome movies like Fight Club, then this movie might just be for you.
The cast of the film, directed by Muay Thai world champion Vincent Soberano (who also plays a role as a detective), includes Epy Quizon, and Christian Vasquez. And you know that the film will be as action-packed as promised since it stars other real-life fighters. They include Taekwondo Olympian Monsour del Rosario, U.S. Wushu Champion—ranked Top 5 in the world—Sarah Chang (who also serves as the films's action director), and MMA World Champion and UFC contender Li Jing Liang to name a few.
