Carlo Aquino Finally Reveals His Role in His Upcoming Movie With Nadine Lustre

Did the Internet guess it right?

(SPOT.ph) Pinoy movie fans had a field day when it was announced that Carlo Aquino would be joining the cast of Ulan, Nadine Lustre's upcoming film. The announcement was made on Ulan's Instagram page, with a photo showing the two under a waiting shed at the University of the Philippines - Diliman. Naturally, the Internet had a few guesses about what Aquino's role could be.

It was eventually revealed that Aquino's character is named Peter. And while those social media users probably know a "Peter" in real life, Aquino himself finally talked about his role in the film. In an interview with Pep, he says, "Isa ako sa love interests ni Nadine. Nagtuturo ako sa street kids." (So it looks like the Internet was right about him being that nice guy.) He also reveals he won't be Lustre's main leading man in the film as he's starring alongside AJ Muhlach (who's playing a character named Mark) and Marco Gumabao (whose character is named Andrew).

Aquino also says that he's okay with not being the lead actor in the film. This is despite the success of Exes Baggage, his reunion movie with real-life ex Angelica Panganiban—which has earned nearly P360 million worldwide. "Hindi ko kailangan mag-lead. Sa Ulan, hindi naman ako lead leading man niya," he says about Lustre. As much as possible, ayokong ma-stereotype na pag gumawa ako ng pelikula, kailangan bida ako. Open ako basta maganda 'yong storya."

He also revelas that he doesn't know the reason why Xian Lim backed out of the movie. But still, he's thankful that he was selected to be part of it. "[I'm] thankful siyempre na ako 'yong [napili] kasi 90% nung cast ng Ulan, from Viva. Para kuhanin nila ako, isang malaking karangalan 'yon. Baby rin naman ako ng Viva."

Ulan, which is directed by Irene Villamor (Camp Sawi, Meet Me in St. Gallen, Sid & Aya (Not a Love Story), is described by Lustre as a movie about self-love. There's no word yet on when it will hit theaters.
